Pair of Copper Oval Trinket Dishes with Brass Spur Handles - Rare Vintage Find

There's something wonderfully unique about a pair of pieces like this. Two little copper oval dishes, warm and softly gleaming, each paired with a genuine vintage brass dress spur as its handle, an unexpected touch that gives them real character and a story all their own.

This pair was made by Maxwell-Phillip Co. Inc., a New York luxury metalware and barware house known through the 1950s and 60s for its heavily stylised, Orientalist-inspired homewares.

The embossed floral detailing along each spur handle, with its scalloped end, is exactly the kind of ornate design flourish the company was known for, recreating antique silhouettes in copper and brass for the mid-century home.

The brass portion of each piece would once have been a traditional dress spur, later repurposed here into a striking handle.

A genuinely one-of-a-kind little find, and this pair has clearly lived a full and well-loved life before finding its way to us.
