When a Personalised Surprise Made My Day
I spend so much of my time thinking about how to help someone make another person feel special. Today, a lovely local baker reminded me just how it feels to be on the receiving end.
A beautiful box of cupcakes, tied with sparkling ribbon. Little orange and pink pumpkins nestled into swirls of icing. And there, sitting proudly on top of two of the cakes, my very own Clayful Thoughts logo.
Something made especially for me.
It made me stop and smile. Not just because there were cakes involved, although that certainly helped, but because someone had thought about me and taken the time to create such a personal surprise.
There is something lovely about seeing a little piece of your world reflected back to you like that. Clayful Thoughts means so much to me, and seeing it on those cupcakes made the surprise feel even more thoughtful.
It reminded me why I love personalised gifts and why I started Clayful Thoughts all those years ago.
The personal detail doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be a name, a few carefully chosen words, a shared memory or, in this case, a little logo on a cupcake.
What matters is the feeling behind it.
“I thought of you. This is for you.”
Usually, I’m on the other side of that moment, making a keepsake, helping with the words for a message scroll or wrapping something ready for someone else to open.
I care about those details because I want the person receiving their gift to feel thought about.
Today, I got to enjoy that feeling myself. And it was lovely.
A heartfelt thank-you to Baked.By.Ami for such a thoughtful and beautiful surprise.
You didn’t just bring me cupcakes.
You gave me a moment of feeling appreciated, and a very happy reminder of why thoughtful little gestures matter.
You can discover more of Ami’s beautiful bakes on Facebook and Instagram.
Now comes the difficult part.
How long can I admire them before eating one?
With love,
Sarah
