Miranda the Rohde Ecotop kiln arriving at the Clayful Thoughts cottage workshop, welcomed with a white heart mug, a Wagon Wheel biscuit, and a cosy pink floral blanket

Meet Miranda - The Newest Member of the Clayful Thoughts Team 🔥

Well, we did it.

I am so incredibly excited to introduce you to Miranda - my beautiful Rohde Ecotop kiln, and the newest (and heaviest!) addition to the Clayful Thoughts family.

At over 70kg, Miranda is not what you'd call a lightweight - and getting her safely into position took some very special, very strong friends who I cannot thank enough. You know who you are, and what a truly magical team you are. ❤️

Of course, the very first thing I did was make her feel as welcome as possible - a warm cuppa, a Wagon Wheel, and a cosy pink blanket to settle her in. She tells me she'd like to stay a while. I think that can be arranged. 😄

Today marks a very special milestone for Clayful Thoughts. This is phase one of our brand new studio installation - and I won't lie, I may have shed a happy tear or two.

From Air Dry Clay to Ceramics - The Dream Takes Shape

Clayful Thoughts began its journey with air dry clay - and what a journey it has been. But from the very beginning, my dream was always to evolve.

To move into ceramics and build a range of homewares, garden decorations and food safe products that could be truly used and loved around the home.

New creations that could stand up to the great British outdoors and everything our wonderful weather throws at them! ☔

Homewares that are durable and food safe so they can be used daily in our lives.

This matters deeply to me, and I want to be completely transparent with you about why.

Legislation around food safety is so important - and rightly so. Air dry clay, no matter how carefully finished, varnished or sealed, remains porous. It can never be made truly watertight or food safe. That is simply the nature of the material, and no amount of food safe varnish can change that.

Ceramics, fired at the right temperatures and finished with the right glazes, open up a whole new world of possibilities - pieces that are not only beautiful, but genuinely functional, durable and safe for everyday use.

Miranda makes all of that possible - opening the door to kiln fired pottery and ceramics becoming a beautiful part of the Clayful Thoughts collection. 🔥

A New Chapter Begins

And when that day comes, I absolutely cannot wait to see what we create together. New pieces. New possibilities. A whole new chapter.

I am a very emotional, very humbled, and super smiley little Yorkshire crafting lassie today. 💕

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has supported this journey - from the very beginning right through to helping carry a 70kg kiln into a studio. Every single one of you means the world to me.

It's going to be a fabulous adventure, and I cannot wait to share every moment of it with you all. 🌸🔥

With so much love,
Sarah x
